Ailene Lillian Sims

Ailene Lillian Sims, 91 a resident of the Beaverton community passed away on June 10, 2021 at her daughter's home in Aloha.
Ailene was born on June 5, 1930 in Turner OR.  She was one of seven children born to Roy and Velma (Brother) Hatfield.  She was raised in Turner.  After graduating in 1948, she worked as a telephone operator.
She was united in marriage to Byron Fortsch on September 17, 1949 in Salem, OR.  They made there home in Salem for several years before moving to Portland, then finally settling in Beaverton.  They had four children together:  Byron, Jr, Janet, Kathryn and Karyn.  They later divorced in 1981.  Ailene continued to live in Beaverton where she met Raymond E Sims.  They married on September 2

, 1986 in Kauai, Hawaii and lived in Portland.  Ray passed away on October 31, 2011.
Ailene was a loving and devoted mother to her family and worked outside the home when her children graduated from high school.  She enjoyed fishing, camping at the Oregon Coast and spending spring and summer in Maui, Hawaii with her husband and visiting their many friends there.
She enjoyed many types of music but was especially fond of Bluegrass Country music and Gospel music.  She took several classes on flower arranging and used this talent throughout her life.  Ailene was a great cook, enjoyed family gatherings on the holidays and her grandchildren.  She enjoyed playing pinochle, Mexican Train and Mahjong.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray, her parents and three siblings.
She is survived by her four children, Byron Jr. of Aloha, Janet of Beaverton, Kathryn (Ed) of Tacoma, and Karyn (Paul) of Aloha, three siblings:  Ed, Orville, and Natalie, four grandchildren:  Rhiannon, Dustin, Tristan, and Talya, two great grandchildren: Athena and Ethan, and many nieces and nephews.
