Charles "Joe" Alvin Larsen

–

Forest Grove, Oregon

Charles "Joe" Alvin Larsen, 82, a resident of the Hillsboro community, passed away on September 7, 2019, at Rosewood Memory Care in Hillsboro.
Charles was born on June 19, 1937 in Toledo, WA. He was the youngest of five children born to Karl and Pearl (Tomlinson) Larsen.  When Charles was a small child his father passed away. Pearl later married Harold Belcher and moved the family to Cedar Mill where two additional siblings were born. He attended Cedar Mill Grade School and Beaverton High School, graduating with the Class of 1956. After high school Joe began working with his brother.  He enrolled at Portland State University and attained a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics in 1960.
Joe served his country for two years in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1962.
He met his future wife, Jeannette Brodesser, through mutual friends in 1960 and they soon began dating. They married on July 24, 1964, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland. They then moved to Bonny Slope, built their home, and lived on the same two-acre property until 2007, when they moved to Hillsboro. They had two children, Jill and Roy.
Joe was employed by the Bonneville Power Administration for 28 years and retired in 1992. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and camping. Jeannette and Joe traveled the continental US, Alaska and Western Canada in their RV. He was the family photographer and enjoyed taking pictures at family reunions and gatherings. He read, watched and listened to anything western, only followed sports so he was able to talk to the fellas at work, and he enjoyed a good joke. His biggest passion was the two acres that Jeannette and Joe owned. They planted hundreds of fruit trees on their property which Joe lovingly maintained.
He is preceded in death by his father, Karl Larsen; his stepfather, Harold Belcher; his mother, Pearl Belcher, and four siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeannette; daughter Jill Larsen of Hillsboro; son Roy Larsen and his wife Laura of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Kathleen, Karl, and Jayne; two siblings, Jack Larsen of Vancouver, and Lori Opal Willis of Scappoose; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggest donations in lieu of flowers to be made to the Alzheimer's Association
