Clifford "Cliff" Alton Brooks Sr. Obituary (1931

Clifford "Cliff" Alton Brooks Sr., 82, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away May 24, 2014 at his home. Cliff was born on October 17, 1931 in Oakland, CA, He was one of five children born to John and Frances (Reynolds) Buck. He was raised and received his education in Grass Valley, CA and attended Grass Valley High School. He enlisted into the US Air Force at the age of seventeen and had served his country for over 20 years. He served in Korean, Japan, Europe, Germany and in Vietnam. He was assigned to the reconstruction task force and had worked closely in rebuilding the infrastructure in war torn countries. In 1965 when he was retired from the US Air Force he started working for the California State Department in Disaster Services and had worked in this capacity for 30 years until he retired in 1995. Cliff began a career as a curator for the Stockton World Wildlife Museum in Stockton, CA, retire in 2006. Cliff had moved to the Reedsport/Coos Bay, OR area, in 2006 and it was here he truly retired and he spent his time fishing hiking and enjoying the Oregon Coast. In 2013 he moved to Forest Grove to be closer to his granddaughter. He enjoyed the outdoors and often hunted fished and went camping. He also enjoyed boating and racing cars. Cliff traveled around the world and was an accomplished woodcarver. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother; Stanley Creamer. He is survived by his wife Benja of Thailand, three children and their spouses; Diana Brooks Garcia and Joseph Garcia both of Aurora, CO, Jeanne Brooks Santangelo of Citrus Heights, CA, Clifford and Diana Brooks Jr. of Brighton, CO, two step children; Burt and Boat Pinthong both of Thailand, three siblings; Nadine Brooks, Frank buck and Ken Buck, seven grandchildren; Isaac and Micah Faulkner, Cristy and Georgia Santangelo, Jeremiah and Danielle Brooks, Zachary Garcia. two step grand children; Chucky and Bella both of Thailand, and ten great grandchildren. The family suggest donations in Cliff's name to The Shriners Hospital, to your local VFW Post or to the Wynwood Assisted Living Center in Forest Grove, OR
