Diane Rimby Buckiewicz

Diane Rimby Buckiewicz, 93, a resident of the Forest Grove community, passed away on March 17, 2025.
Diane was born on June 6, 1931, in Montebello, CA. She was the oldest of two children born to Walter and Teckla (Martinson) Rimby. She was raised in Montebello until her junior year in high school when her family moved to Tigard, OR She graduated from Tigard High School with the Class of 1949. Diane then attended Pacific University for two years but graduated from Oregon State in 1953. She went on to get her master's degree from Penn State University in 1955.  Later, she obtained a Doctorate degree from the University of Oregon in 1974.
She met her future husband, Frank Buckiewicz, when she was a first-year student in college. They began dating while students at Pacific University and married on May 30, 1953, in Tigard, OR at St Anthony Catholic Church. They moved to Pennsylvania to finish their master's degrees and then moved to Seaside, Oregon. In 1961 they moved to Portland Oregon until 1965 when they settled in Forest Grove. They had four children together, Frank, Greg, Gina, and Jo.
Diane was a teacher all her life. She started at Seaside Middle School as a classroom teacher, and coached several sports. Diane then moved to the college level and taught at Portland State, Clark College, Marylhurst University, PCC, and also Pacific University. Her teaching career spanned from 1955 into the late 1990's.
She enjoyed gardening, swimming, and tennis outdoors. She was an avid walker/runner and loved competition. Diane enjoyed refurbishing antiques, remodeling her yard, growing plants, canning her vegetables, musicals and dancing with her husband. She encouraged her children to be very self-sufficient.  Frank and Diane also enjoyed traveling, having visited Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Australia, the Caribbean, and Japan.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her parents.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Frank and Jo Ann Buckiewicz of Forest Grove, OR, Greg and Angie Buckiewicz of Longview, WA, Gina and Dan Jones of Lake Oswego, OR, Jo Barendse of Florida, her brother, Walter Rimby of Portland, OR, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
