Douglas Alan Herzog

–

Forest Grove, Oregon

Douglas (Doug) Alan Herzog, 51, Gaston, OR passed away on November 20, 2025. He was born on August 7, 1974 in San Gabriel, CA to Debra Leeper and Terrence Herzog.
Doug's life was defined by his passion for cooking, creating amazing dishes and his astounding love for his 3 children. He always spoke highly of them and everyone he talked to would know how proud he was of each of them.
Doug's love for food led him to become an Executive Chef. He recently achieved a career milestone by reopening the Gem Creole Saloon in McMinnville, OR. He took immense pride in this endeavor, pouring his hard work and dedication into every dish.
All who knew Doug, knew of his quirky personality that always brightened the room. The quirkiness showed in ways like him at a younger age wanting to be a ski bum; answering the phone when his kids would call, by saying "yoboseyo"; calling his daughter Noelle into the room, only to say "nevermind", just to get on her last nerve. A loving memory she will keep dear to her heart.
He is survived by his children, Mackenzie Marks (Herzog), Noelle Herzog, and Kaden Herzog; his parents, Debra & Kent Leeper and Terrence & Susan Herzog; his siblings, Michael Herzog, David Herzog, Steven Herzog, Sarah Herzog, and Jesse Leeper; and his bonus brother and lifelong best friend, Jeff Sanchez. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Doug's love for his children, family, friends, all things food, nature and living life to the fullest, will be carried on in the hearts of many.
