Gloria Anna "Redhead" Rosengreen, 91, a resident of the Beaverton community, passed away on May 24, 2023, at home.
Gloria was born on October 21, 1931, in Glenwood, Iowa. She was the oldest of three children born to George R. and Ethel M. (Andrews) Baucom. Upon leaving their family farm in Iowa, the Baucom's moved to Vanport, Oregon in 1942 when Gloria was eleven years old, where her father George worked in the shipyards during WWII. For a brief time, Gloria and her family lived in SE Portland where she attended Woodstock Grade School. In 1945, her family moved to their four-acre farm in Gresham. She attended Rockwood Grade School and graduated from Gresham High School in 1949.
She met her future husband, Donald Rosengreen Sr., while working at Timberline Lodge as a waitress. Don was the chef. They also went on to work together at the Multnomah Falls Lodge. Gloria and Don married on June 23, 1951, in Vancouver, WA. They lived in Portland until 1960 and then moved to the Beaverton home they shared for 58 years. They had six children together, Donald Jr., Carl II, Ellen, Terry, Peter and Steve. Following her husband's death in 2018, Gloria moved in with her daughter Terry and family in Cornelius.
Following the birth of Donald Jr., Gloria became a stay-at-home mother. Once all their children were old enough, Gloria returned to work as a waitress. She worked at several establishments during her waitressing career, including, Tip Top, Skyline Restaurant, Henry Thiele Restaurant, Denny's and finally for Chiam Chinese restaurant in Beaverton. Gloria then worked in fabric retail until she retired. She worked in the fabric department at Sprouse-Reitz in Forest Grove, Craft Warehouse in Beaverton, and retired from the Mill End Store in Beaverton.
Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved it when everyone would gather at their home for holidays and special occasions. Don and Gloria liked to make long drives, often to the beach, dancing in their "party room", especially listening to the brat pack. When the children were younger the family would often go camping.
Gloria was an avid sewer. She enjoyed making anything you could with a sewing machine, including her own clothes and quite a lot of her children's clothes when they were younger. Gloria loved to garden. Every year, her yard would be bursting with color, as she enjoyed tending to her flowers every spring. Gloria also enjoyed putting together puzzles, crocheting, needlepoint and creating her own crafts. When her hands became tired, she would become immersed in religious word puzzles. She was fond of her little dog, Tank. The couple always had a pet around the home.
