Laura Fay Sullivan

Laura Fay Sullivan, 92, a resident of the Hillsboro community, passed away on January 16, 2024.
Laura was born on August 12, 1931, in Camden, Arkansas. She was the fourth of four children born to Ira and Lucille (Poindexter) Whaley. She was raised in Arkansas and Louisiana where she attended St. Vincent's Academy, graduating with the class of 1950.
After High School Laura enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1951.
Laura married William Shaddock in 1952. Together they made their home in Camden, Arkansas where they had two children, Darlene and Tommy. In 1980 Laura was widowed. In 2005, Laura married Lawrence Sullivan. Lawrence passed away in 2010.
Laura worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service, for a time. She enjoyed watching old westerns. Laura had a love of horses that went from raising them, to becoming a partial owner of a race horse and often following horse racing. She had a soft spot in her heart for all animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents; Ira Whaley, Lucille Whaley her children; Thomas Shaddock and Darlene Burreson, and siblings; Ruth Ellen Wise, Pete Whaley, and Helen Rodgers
Laura is survived by four grandchildren; Felicia McGuire, Amber Mata, Shawna Burreson, Colin Burreson, eight great grandchildren, one great-great-grand child, and many nieces and nephews.
