Leila Louise Clark

Leila Louise Clark, 99, a resident of the Hillsboro community passed away on December 31, 2024 at the Providence St Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.
Leila was born on October 28, 1925 in Springfield, Mass to William and Amy (McAllister) Wilson. She was raised in West Springfield and attended West Springfield High School graduating as valedictorian with the Class of 1943. Following high school Leila attended Massachusetts State College where she met Albert E. Goring Jr. to whom she was married from 1945 to 1952.  She continued to live in and around her hometown and married Alexander C. Mason in 1963 but separated and moved to Garden Grove, CA in 1968.
She met her future husband, Alfred A. Clark, through mutual friends and in 1970 she moved to Hawthorne, CA. They started a close relationship and were married in March 1978 in Los Angeles, CA and made their home in Hawthorne, CA.  Alfred passed away on February 3, 2009 and the following year Leila moved to Hillsboro to be closer to her son Clark.
Leila enjoyed her time as a homemaker but spent many years as a bookkeeper. She had worked for Strathmore Paper Company and Massachusetts Mutual in Massachusetts, Kirkhill Rubber in Brea, California and retired from Mattel Toy Company in 1983.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet, knitting, tatting, and cross-stitch. She built a dollhouse for her grandchildren and then made all the clothing for the dolls in the dollhouse. She was a homebody who didn't like to travel but loved spending time with her family.  She enjoyed reading, completing a daily crossword puzzle, Sudoku, was a great listener and loved her cat Razzy.  Leila was a great cook and was a volunteer for the Catholic Daughters at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach, CA.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred, a brother, Bill Wilson and her parents.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Naomi Goring and her spouse Jerry Porter both of Sneads Ferry, NC, Keith Goring of Torrington, CT, Clark and Karla Mason of Hillsboro; two step children, Dane Clark of Santa Ana, CA, Mike and Betty Clark of Ashland, OR; two siblings, Wedworth Wilson of Lake City, FL and Lynn Wilson of Lenox, Mass; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
