Mary Agnes Unger

Mary A. Unger, 88, a resident of the Hillsboro community died Saturday, January 10, 2008 at the Jennings McCall Assisted Living in Forest Grove.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the St Matthew Catholic Church; 437 SE 3rd Ave in Hillsboro.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday; January 13, 2009 at the St Matthew Parish in Hillsboro.

Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon following the Funeral Mass to be held at the St Matthew Parish Hall in Hillsboro.

Rite of Christian Burial and Vault interment will take place at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.

Mary was born on October 13, 1920 in Portland, OR. She was one of three children born to Anton and Joanna (Grabar) Flabetich. She was raised in the rural Sherwood area and attended high school at Sherwood.

She was united in marriage to Ferdinand Unger on May 10, 1947 at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sherwood. Following their marriage they made their home in Cornelius until 1950 when they moved to Hillsboro. In 1960 they bought a farm on River Rd were they raised peaches, rhubarb and Marian berries. Ferdinand died March 14, 2000. Mary continued to live on the farm until late last month when she moved to Jenning McCall Assisted Living in Forest Grove.

Among her interest she enjoyed canning, keeping a good home, flower gardening and selling produce from their farm. Mary never missed her favorite TV show "Wheel of Fortune" and was a very private person.

She is preceded in death by her husband and brothers Tony and John Flabetich.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family asks donations placed in Mary's name go to Hospice of Washington County.
