Robert "Bob" Leo Ferrie Sr.

Robert "Bob" Leo Ferrie, Sr. 87, a resident of the Cornelius community passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 20, 2019 at his home.
Military honors and graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. March 20, 2019. Willamette National Cemetery; 11800 SE Mt. Scott Boulevard, Portland, OR 97086.
Bob was born on March 12, 1931 in Cambridge, MA. He was the youngest of three children and was raised in Cambridge and attended Ridge Tech School graduating with the class of 1949. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree at San Jose State University.
He enlisted into the US Air Force following high school and made a career as an analyst. His career in the US Air Force lead him to service in Japan, Vermont and Massachusetts during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  He was honorably discharged in 1969 as a Master Sergeant.
Bob met his future wife, Shirley Champoux, in Cambridge, MA. They soon began dating and after a short courtship they married in February 1953. They shared fifty one years together before her passing on August 22, 2004.
He worked as an analyst for the Federal Government for the first twenty years of his career as well as at TRW until his retirement in 1993.
Upon his retirement they moved from San Jose, CA to Cornelius, OR. He enjoyed his new community, he started volunteering to work on development of Dogwood Park. He later joined Parks Committee, Planning Comission, Mac Committee and held a seat as City Council Member for Cornelius.
Bob enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, nature and was an avid photographer. He enjoyed reading Westerns and Tom Clancy novels. Shirley and Bob enjoyed taking cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. He liked to have a well-kept yard and considered himself a handyman around the house and with his cars.
His biggest achievement was his children and grandchildren.
Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley, his parents and two siblings; Jim and Iness.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses; Fred & Kathy Ferrie of Beaverton, OR, Jim Ferrie of Cornelius, OR, Bob Jr. & Sheri Ferrie of Forest Grove, OR, six grandchildren; Serena, Mark, Sean, Urijah, Melissa and Jolene, and four great grandchildren.
