Ruth Morlock

–

Beaverton, Oregon

Linda Ruth Morlock, beloved wife, mother, grandmother (grammy), family member, and cherished friend, passed away on July 10, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on November 4, 1944, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and being raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Ruth moved to the United States in 1962 and built a beautiful life on a foundation of love, acceptance, and forgiveness through Jesus. At 17, in 1962 she said, “The Lord truly is good…His salvation and great love summon me to serve Him with all my strength for all my years.” That is exactly what she did.

After graduating from Life Bible College, now Pacific Life University, Ruth served faithfully in ministry alongside her husband, Joe Morlock, for 60 years. She poured her heart into people and communities with unwavering devotion, collecting many dear friends along the way. If you are reading this, you are one of them. Her faith was her anchor. Through every storm, Ruth held tightly to the Lord, professing her love for Him daily and reflecting His grace in the way she lived, loved, and served. The joy of the Lord was truly her strength.

Music was one of the great joys of Ruth’s life. She played the piano and sang with a beautiful clear resounding voice devoted to proclaiming the goodness of God. Whether in church, at home, or among friends, her music was a gift — a way she expressed her faith, her joy, and her deep love for others.

Beyond her ministry, with the understanding that her whole life was a ministry, Ruth earned a degree in business administration and built a successful career in the insurance industry, managing a team of claims adjusters. She led with integrity, patience, and a steady hand, earning the respect of colleagues who admired her ability to balance professionalism with genuine care.

Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Chapman, and her daughter, Lori, Ruth is lovingly remembered by her husband, Joe Morlock; her daughter, Cheryl; her sons-in-law, Kenny and Ken; her grandchildren, Michael, Megan (Caro), and Emma; her sister, Pat Hamilton; and many members of the extended Chapman, Hamilton, Kalanza, and Morlock families. Each of them carries forward her devotion to joy, adventure, faith, fun, love, acceptance, and forgiveness.

Ruth will be remembered for her delightful humor, her unwavering compassion, and the way she made people feel valued and understood. Unsolicited, people describe Ruth as beautiful, classy, full of warm hospitality, the perfect hostess, a dear and cherished friend, full of fun, amazing energy and stamina, brilliant, resilient, an inspiration, a rock, glowing – she radiated such joy and sunshine. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched — each one marked by her faith, her music, her delight in the word of God, and her enduring love. Declarations of praise were often on her lips – “Praise the Lord” “Hallelujah”, and favorite scriptures are endless.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 11am in Portland, Oregon, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful example she set every day of her life. The celebration will be held at Rock Creek Christian Center, 21450 NW Rock Creek Blvd. Portland, Oregon, 97229. A time for sharing memories of Ruth will be included in her celebration of life, but please consider sharing your memories here on this website so the family can hold your memories dear as well. We rejoice that Ruth is healthy and whole in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and reunited with so many family and friends, including her daughter, Lori. Such a joyful reunion!
