Portland, Oregon
Thomas was born in Portland to John Dale Kloucek and Julie Gerline Kloucek (née Kluthe) at 12:10 pm on December 27th 1988.
Tomie graduated from St. Pius Grade School in Cedar Mill and Jesuit High School in Beaverton. He became an Eagle Scout while at Jesuit. He earned a degree with honors in Industrial Design from Western Washington University 2011.
After graduation he worked in product design in Seattle. He lived very frugally saving his money for a trip around the world in 30 days. He had stops in Osaka, Seoul, Beijing, Hong Kong. New Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Mumbai, London, Dallas and back to Portland. Upon returning home he arranged a three-month internship in London where he designed clock radios for the European market. The rest of the family caught up with him for the week of the fourth of July including a side trip to Paris, viewing Notre Dame before the fire.
His next focus became 3-D printing working for Fathom in Seattle, then a transfer to Oakland and finally Hartland, WI. where he doubled the plant production by adding a second shift. He had the opportunity to stand behind the New York Stock Exchange Podium when Fathom went public.
Tomie then moved to Walpole, MA to become an efficiency expert for Rolls Royce Marine where they assembled 20-foot diameter ship propellers. The job took him to Biloxi, MS to observe the casting and to the corporate headquarters in Indianapolis, IN.
He returned to 3-D printing in Seattle followed by his entrance into the Seminary in Mount Angel, OR. He was studying to become a priest for the Archdiocese of Portland. His latest passion was to design a license plate for the State of Oregon to respect life, like he had on his vehicles in WI. and MA.
Tomie passed away suddenly without warning after a routine heart procedure on May 18th at 10:31 pm. He is and will be missed greatly by all those who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Julie and John; siblings, David and Sarah (Keith); cousins, Erin, Gregory, Joe, Danny, and Mitch; Aunts and Uncles, Greg and Patti, Loren, Dan and Sally, and Janet.
Please make donations in his memory to the Mount Angel Abby and Seminary Student Scholarship Fund or Stand up Girl.com.
